Spraying a boot ...

Afternoon Chaps - Just a quick question.
I have my car booked in for a bootlid respray on monday. One guy has told me that when the boot is sprayed he will need to blend it into the tops of the rear wings. The other just said he would do the boot.
Now I am slightly worried that there will be a bad mismatch if he doesn't blow in across the top of the wings.
I have used neither bodyshop before.

without knowing the exact area of paint being done on the bootlid or the colour of the car, then it becomes a bit of a guess as to if it needs blending or not.
if the jobs done correctly then you wont notice any difference in colouring.
if the jobs not done correctly, then with no blend you will have an off colour boot
if the jobs not done correctly, then not only may you have a poor result on the boot , you may also have 2 1/4 panel that are not perfect.
IMO you would be better off finding other people that could recommend either garage to you . IYKWIM.

My old man has recommended a guy. He done a good job on his car but a shocking job on my sisters car.

te job (prior to ownership) and the job was clearly bad and therefore the lacquer has now cracked. It is in the centre of the bootlid - BMW convertible.As a side note, I just spoke to the chap and he said he will spray the top corners if neccescary (sp)?

Hiya mate, if you still havent had your boot lid painted this advice may help, if your getting it sprayed for only laquer peeling u may not need to colour rite to the ends of the boot lid therefore the colour will not be wrong at the ends because the painter will not need to take it to the edges of the panel with the colour obviously he would laquer the lot. BUT, if the laquer has started peeling this to me indicates bad prep work therefore if its started in one place whats to stop it startin in other places after u get it sprayed? only way to stop this is to take the paint back to its origional layers and start again. If u were doing this however u would need to color the full boot lid and i would therefore recomend blending adjacent panels. We have a Full Paint Sceme on site at my bodyshop and can mix any colour, me and my partner both worked for BMW while training and we always recomend blending panels because no matter what paint you use theres never a guarantee that its gona match the car edge to edge where as when you blend you can guarantee this. it doesnt matter if the painter painting your car is the best painter in the world if the colour is off the job is gona look crap!
