Newbie question. long time hand waxer but want to get a machine.

Right I was wondering 1) SUGGEST me and good polisher

But also wanting it to flat back my Kit car paintwork before re-spraying.

So being new to thing and normally doing all this by hand. What is a good polisher that I can use to flat back paint and what pads and compounds etc would people suggest. if that make sense

I'm assuming you're talking about wet sanding when you mention flatting back?
Or are you just wanting to correct/polish the paint with compounds and foam pads?

The Kestral machines are decent enough beginner machines but not particularly powerful, it's very easy to stop them rotating with just a couple of fingers. But with a bit practice and decent technique you can achieve reasonable results with them.

For a slight step up in price the Meguiar's G220 dual action machine is a more durable machine. I wouldn't say it was any more powerfull than the Kestrel one though.

The Flexipads `Liquid Shine' cutting compounds, Polishes and foam pads are worth considering too if you're just going to be using it for personal use. They do nice small sized bottles which are perfect for the enthusiast and only run out at around £6 per bottle.
If you were looking to buy all 3 compounds with 3 matching foam pads you'd be looking at around £30-40 for the lot.

.
Wet sanding, I have need to re-spray my kit car. Brother in law is the sprayer and I helped him to spray my kit car. hoping to get it done over the next month but need to remove the lacquer. Just thinking of something that can do both once I get the pads etc..
