Afternoon all.

Have just come home after some time away to discover my car in a slightly worse state than it was before i left and would appreciate any advice you might have on sorting out the problem. First off, there are a few paint chips....

And a few scratches.

Would touch up paint do the trick or would something else be better? As you can see, the biggest paint chip is smaller than a 1p coin.

I also have some rust. AAAARRRRRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! madmadmadmad

The rust is no longer than 5cm, but in my mind it stretches about 20 yards and is going to eat my car so would really like it fixed. Any ideas as to the best cure?

I would really appreciate any help/ advice you guys might have.

Thanks

On a side note, Found my radiator looking slightly worse for wear. (Thanks mum. You're so not getting your hands on the keys again)

Any ideas what problems this could cause me? The car seems fine on long or short journeys but i don't want to ignore it and then have a minor explosion in the engine bay.

Cheers guys

For the rust - Bilt Hamber Deox Gel (lay it on thick - 3-5mm and cover with clingfilm for 24-48 hours). Wash off, dry and then get repainted or touched in.
For the stonechip, touch in would work fine, but you'll need to flatten it level to the surrounding paintwork, with 3K or 4K abrasive pads (3M/Abralon), before using a polishing compound to buff up to a nice shine again.

Might be worth speaking to a local detailer in your area - http://www.pistonheads.com/members/remember/links.... - and see if they're able to do the touch in, or the flatting/polishing, if you do it.

Thanks for the reply.

Most of it is inconspicuous areas so i'll probably have a go myself first but may well need a pro to re-do it once i balls it up.

Thanks for the help. Really appreciate it! biggrin

Looks like the air con rad to me from the picture , and only the bottom slat has come away which only holds the next layers cooling fins .

This section does not have any gas travelling through it , the next slat above that and so on has the gas sealed inside so should be no problem .

and even if the rad did fail you would only lose the air con system .

If your car has not got air con function then its slightly different ball game , as it could be a cooler for auto transmission etc , but again does look like air con rad to me thumbup

Cheers Kelly. Didn't think it would cause any problems. I only noticed it whilst i had my head under the car. The car hasn't suffered any problems at all but just wanted to double check it.

If i start roasting in the summer, i'll know what the problem is. Thanks
