What do you recommend for tyre dressing?

Thanks

I'm biased, being a refinisher, but

"Actually *cleaning* the tyres and leaving them clean rather than slathering them in some horrible silicone-rich grease-dressing"

is the best product on the market wink

I always scrub the tyre with a tooth brush when cleaning the car but once the tyre dries it's a little dull.

That just makes is clean, that doesn't make it shiny. You clean your car then you wax it. Do exactly the same thing to both your tyres and your wheels; clean, then apply product.

In this case, I use Meguiars tyre gel, really good and used it for years, lasts well but is not too "sticky" ;

By far the best tyre dressing i've used is Zaino, used the megs endurance, but Zaino leaves are far nicer finish, top product and you use so little.

I've used this Meg's Tyre gel on the black plastic on my Alfa; brings it up a treat! It just happens to make the tyres look nice too!

Apologies, didn't see your reply sooner.

I use just a rag, but I should get myself one of those sponge applicators because it's not the easiest thing to get on with a cloth. I think Meguiars sell the sponge tyre applicator things so will get one of them.

Meg's is the one I went with and I was being *very* picky on which I had as did'nt want to have the used car shiny look. I've a Meg's applicator too which is Ok but I am a bit dissapointed with.

Zaino is by far the best I have used. Meguiars is also very good but use sparingly as it does tend to sling if you use too much. Meguiars smells the best, like bubblegum! hehe

Chemical Guys New Look dressing works for me - also doubles as a plastic/trim rejuvenator and the bottle lasts forever.

I use a washing-up sponge for application - works equally as well as the more expensive applicators, and easily disposable (applicators get filthy after a couple of goes).

Thanks everyone, picked up a bottle on my way home. Got a few of those pads in the garage so will try it this evening.

I use Poorboys Bold n Bright on my tyres which I am happy with.

However, I also use it on the plastic and vinyl exterior trim (the triangular mirror cover thng at the bottom corner of the A-pillar and the black textured vinyl strip between front & back doors) but I find that after it rains it leaves a dull reside all down my doors.

Is there a product that would stay on the exterior plastic/vinyl AND work on the tyres too?

Another vote for Zaino. I've tried many different ones over the years.

I apply using the Meguiars sponge applicator.

Yup, the Meguiars Gold Class is what I use on the black plastic and tyres on my Alfa, comes up a treat and doesn't streak or run in wet weather.

Find "Valeters pride" website, they are based in Letchworth but do mail order. They sell all materials in 1,5 and 25litre sizes. I use their silicon tyre dressing, by 5 litres and decant into a trigger spray. Dont buff it, it stays shiny and the tyres gleam, you can also use on dash, window rubbers and door vinyl but buff it on these areas once applied. Costs around 15 quid for 5 litres versus about £7 for 500ml tyre shine at Halfords. I dont think you will be dissapointed.
