Hi Folks,

I have just finished refurbing the lip around my Super Advan's which took a bit of a battering over the winter...

I've sanded it back and polished it up now...

But I am wondering what to use to seal it, it's just bear metal at the moment. The laquer that was on them before was clearly useless...

Any ideas?
Or is it best to leave them as bear metal untreated?

Cheers,

Malc

i think that rather than spend £400 every few years getting mine re-furbed (which means new bolts etc)when mine need doing i may just leave them untreated and give them a polish every few weeks/month.

Not sure what to put on them maybe re laquer them, if not the brake dust will eat into them and you will be refurbing them every few months if the car is used daily. Thats what happens to the lip on my AMG alloys.

Leave them bare is the easiest thing to do just get some metal polish, Autoglym, Autosol or siimilar are give them a little polish as necessary. A decent wax will help them stay looking 'cleaner' for longer.

Whatever you do dont leave them bare. I had mine diamond cut. Left bare and said I would polish weekly. I didnt do it very often, they soon became tarnished and beyond polishing by anthing I could locate.

I have since had mine redone and this time they have a laquer on them.
