Removing finger prints from paint work

Hi, I need some help as to how to shift finger prints from my paint. The marks are on the top of the door frame and (were) on the middle of the boot lid.
I say were as my father in law decided to take T cut to the boot whilst I was away and now I need to sort the problem before he attacks the door frame. Or I attack him.
He has removed the marks but has replaced them with some fine scratches, this isn't bad now but I guess if the paint has marked once it will do it again and very soon if he is left to him self I'll have a bare metal boot lid.
So how do I get the marks off the door frame and secondly what do I do to stop it happening again. Or how do I protect the paint with a sacrifical layer that I can easily replace?

Can you write that a bit more coherently - I've the distinct impression you're talking about impressions of fingertip pattern in the paint, which doesn't make a lot of sense unless it's recently been painted, and they're already in it.
Otherwise, paint shouldn't be so soft as to accept fingerprint impressions.

Bit more info on what exactly the problem is, and we'll be able to make some specific suggestions.

I've seen quite a few cases where skin products, particularly sun-tan lotion, is left when skin contacts paintwork, and can be a complete pig to remove - often needing polishing rather than simple removal with appropriate cleaners or solvents. Fingerprints or palm marks are often how this presents - and it has the appearance of having etched the clearcoat... might be what the OP is facing?

Sorry I wasn't clearer. The finger prints are greasy finger marks on solid paint( five year old Smart Roadster). They won't wash off with normal washing so I suspect they have some how etched the paint?

In light of the image, and the reply Anatol put up, I'd be reaching for the mineral spirits or IPA (Isopropanol/Isopropyl Alcohol), if I didn't have a good heavy degreaser like Bilt Hamber Surfex HD or Meguiar's APC to try first.
If it is suntan lotion that is the cause - then it probably has etched the paintwork, and Autoglym SRP or Dodo Juice Lime Prime with a foam applicator will be needed to abrade the surface damage.
Apply a good wax or sealant afterwards, to give the paint protection.
