How much should a good clean/detail cost?
Discussion
Hi guys, I have been reading a lot about detailing and the incredible variety of products on offer for those in the know. To be honest the amount of stuff available out there astounds me and I am never likely to get my head around it.
Basically what I am after is for somebody to give my car a damn good clean. Nothing over the top, its only an R reg Golf so spending thousands is obviously out of the question. Realistically I am looking for a one on one tutorial on some of the more basic products available and have them demonstrated on my car, in the process coming away with a car that is cleaner than it has been for a long time and also a deeper practical knowledge of the techniques and products available to the "sunday morning clean" home user.
So does anybody offer a service like this or is in-depth cleaning a behind closed doors sort of thing?
Cheers

ask on detailing world.
i get mates rates, so it cost me £40 rather than the usual £80+ to de-tar, rinse, repeat, wash, dry, machine polish 1 wing, polish car and wax. finished off wih tyre shine and autosol exhaust tip.
it just about covered cost of products with a couple of pints on top.

I would expect a decent detail to take close to ten hours so I would be looking at paying around £400 for a full interior / exterior detail, with machine polishing and high quality wax. You are paying for both knowledge and product, and if the people you choose know their stuff paint depth gauges and sun guns don't cme cheap, neither do top end waxes and machine polishers.
You will be amazed by what can be achieved with time and knowledge, like surgery or accountancy!!!
