Just buy some kit and have a go yourself. I use Meguiars, they have a decent range and middle of the road money wise.

I recently worked on an Elise that was gruggy as hell. I would have liked more time but happy with the results considering the limited time I had.

Yeah that's what I do. I love cleaning my car and it will take me a hole day to do it. I was just thinking that what people pay for a clean like that.

As stated, it would depend on what is being done. Full paint correction, protection, quality of wax etc etc.

It's fine doing it yourself, but you won't remove swirls, haze and fine scratches by hand as easily as a pro with a machine polisher. I know from experience!

But in answer to your question OP - probably around £200 for a correction.

Around £300 a day.

The car itself, it's condition, age and to what level the owner would like it detailed are the key things that determine the time taken and hence the cost of a vehicle detail.

That depends on how good you are. Your only saving the money if your as good as a pro. I'm not saying your not, but I can't really tell much from the elise picture at all. Also if your happy with thye job you have done for yourself then fair play.

Fir instance take this 612 scaglietti I recently detailed last week. This was a mess covered in swirls, holograms, pigtails and rds's. This via rotary and d.a. took 38 hours of labour (beginning to end) This is what I would call a middle of the road full correction job.

I suppose I am doing enough not to need a pro. If I am not damaging my paint then it will not need paint correction which is the only thing I would use a pro for. I am not bothered about taking out lights etc my car is cleaner than most on the road and thats fine with me.

Excellent and always nice to see someone who looks after there car, but theres a large gap between what a pro can do, hence the reason on prices.

Depends what you want. A protection detail probably £200ish, but for a paint correction it really depends how bad the paint was. I had my 911 done before I sold it (bit of a waste of money really) and it cost me £350 but that was a really good deal seeing as it took him 3 days.

This guy is pretty well recommended up my neck of the woods and this will give you a rough idea of prices.
