Hi All,

just a little but frustrating issue. During a long journey a week or so ago in the pouring rain, my drivers side windscreen wipers slowly began to become less and less effective with loads of smear lines in every wipe.

I was a bit frustrated as I'd only changed the wiper blades about 10 months ago, but duly ordered and fitted some new blades asap. Next rainy day....no difference !!! So thinking it must be something on the screen I bought some Megs Glass cleaner and duly cleaned and polished away.....very pleased as all my windows now look cleaner than when I bought the car.

BUT !!! It's raining this morning and the windows are still smearing !!! I know it's only a minor thing but in heavy rain it is a problem.

Anyone any ideas, tips etc ??

Don't forget that you get a lot of oil/diesel & crap thrown up from the road, so whatever blades or between drives cleaning regime you use you will still get smearing as you drive in wet conditions.

Clean your wiper blades often and also put in a decent screen cleaner....not the cheap stuff from a well known high street retailer.....

Could you recommend a good screen cleaner- I never know which to buy so just end up putting in stuff from the pound store.

For cleaning I polish mine with a rotary using a dual action cleaner/polisher like Megs #83, then I use this on the outsides . . . excellent stuff.

Carlack 68 Glass Sealing Kit

[Further info & instructions etc|http://www.carlack.de[/url]

Durability is excellent in my experience although not run it through the winter yet . . . Finding it better than RainX so far.

The other key point, is although your wipers are new'ish, are you cleaning them as thoroughly as the glass, if not, then the contaminants will be on them being spread back all of the screen again . .

You can use the cleaner in the kit as a cleaner on it's own, or any other general window cleaner can be used to clean in between applications. Wash car as normal etc . .
