I was working on a v8 vantage the other day, and once fully prepped and mask up for correction, these lovely sanding marks could be seen:

This has got to come from factory, and surprises how much they miss in some of these hand built car companies. Anyway after some fun, a little 50/50:

and then nice and defect free:

A great result. I am amazed at how some manufacturers allow their cars to leave the showroom / dealership? Lexus, BMW and Ferrari are the worst culprits.

I think it's more amazing how customers accept these defects!

Most buyers be they fleet managers or individuals dont seem to know or understand paint and clearcoat finishes on cars and just accept what they see. I agree with your comment.

Im pretty new to the world of detailing, and this was my first aston martin ive detailed. I don't know loads about AM paint, But I couldn't believe it was like this either. At the end of the day, this AM was 3 years old, and im happy to think the owner did not decide to use a dual action sander on his car. So yes this came from factory like this. Also I agree, I can't believe that customers buy there cars like this. The owner watched me do this car from day one, and now knows what to look for. He may be ordering the new sls for which im sure i'll be going along with him to make sure its in good condition.

Very interesting, something to consider - as it is a 3 year old car it may have had damage and repaired, the sanding marks could be from flattening down the surface. out of interest what was the overall pain measurements in microns ??

Kind regards,

Nabil
