Could do with a recommendation for a good snow foam available in 25 ltr (or similar volume).

Thanks in advance,

Tol

How aggressive a clean do you need Tol?

Envy Valeting do a good snowfoam and fairly priced at around £24 inc VAT.

Bilt Hamber snowfoam is excellent but not sure if they supply it in 25L drums.

Valet Pro produce a good selection of TFR's and Snowfoam in large sizes

Autobrite Direct also have a few good deals going in large sizes too!

I wouldn't object to a recommendation for a product that is LSP-safe for customer cars, and also a second one for something a bit more aggressive for getting winter road grime off our works vans.

I have an Autobrite foam lance for our Karcher.

Thanks in advance smile

Autobrite Citrus Wash for the more aggressive duties or Valet Pro Snow Foam Combo. Both are cost effective, do a top job and have enough cleaning abilities without being over harsh.

For cars and customers I would go for Espuma Activo.....it is not over concentrated, but does an amazing job. Again cost effective, PH neutral and leaves an amazing finish upon the paintwork.

I use Autosmarts actimousse, not in any quantities but I still found it a step up over Hyperwash or Autobrite SSF

I'm sure they'll be a rep in your area who will give you a sample and a good deal smile

Thanks Guys.

Belleair, did you mean Autobrite's Citrus wash, or their citrus snow foam? Two very similarly named products on their website...

Bilt Hamber can do 25L of Auto-foam, if you ask.
It's one of the very best, that's LSPO-safe.

AS Actimousse is a well regarded foaming TFR.

Dilution will be key on how they work, plus dwell time. In BH's case, 4-5% is optimal and 5-8 minutes.
Never used AS, so can't advise on that, unfortunately.

Hi Tol

I use Autosmart's HighFoam Plus. It's a mix of cleaner & TFR. Seems to work well through an Autobrite lance (recommended by you!).

Cheers

If using Valet Pro the Snow Foam Combo is the aggressive cleaner that you do not want to leave to dwell for extended periods and will strip most lsp layers, the ph neutral valet pro is very good and wax safe and can be left to work much longer without any adverse effects to your paint.

I personally now use Autosmarts Brushwash as my wax safe snow foam. Very good cleaning abilities, available in lots of bulk sizes and very reasonable price. Contains no TFR's and foams nice and thick.

What PJS said - I avoided Bilt Hamber initially as I didn't believe it could be that good. I was about as wrong as a wrong thing frankly and it's my go-to pre wash product every time. I tried a fair few alternatives and found that most stripped trim/tyre dressings straight off (on my old 205 GTi which is of course plastered in plastic). Autofoam doesn't - not a scientific answer but I figured that if foam affected a dressing then it had to have some impact on whatever LSP is on the paint.

GTechniq C4 takes care of that issue now but I'd still stick with what I know works for me. If you want a sample of Autofoam let me know.

Thanks guys, I've plumped for the Autobrite suggestions to try first.

Tol's top tip though - deciding to foam the winter grime off a works van in the current temperatures is a bad idea. The foam freezes during its dwell time - leaving a new spin on 'snow foam'. :-$

Is it essential to have a lance that connects to a pressure washer in order to apply snow foam, or is it possible to apply it in some other way?

Just wondering as I don't really want to shell out £45 for a lance if there's another way to do it.

Thanks.

Only way - needs high pressure to generate the foam from the solution.

You can use a Gilmour Foamaster attached to a garden hose, if you dont have or want to buy a pressure washer. Much the same price as a lance I'm afraid, but negates the cost of a pressure washer if you dont already have one.

This pressure washer comes with a 'foam applicator'. Is it likely this is suitable for snow foam, or is a more bespoke bit of kit required?

It's alright - a starter for ten, if you will - but it's still shy of the proper output a HD lance can produce.
In fact, if you're struggling to divvy the funds, my advice would be buy the more expensive pressure washer, as that'll have more of a bearing on cleanliness, even if it means foregoing the snow foam for now, and making do with a manual pressurised sprayer and a good degreaser like Bilt Hamber Surfex HD, for example.
You can always add the lance to your setup later on.
