Slashed Convertible Roof!!

Some low life pr*ck slashed the roof of my wifes convertible Mini Cooper S today below the rear window in order to gain access to the boot!!
Does anyone know if this can be repaired?? The dealer has quoted me £2050 for a new roof (obviously going to be an insurance claim if it comes to that).
