Multi-Car Paint Correction
Discussion
Hi All, looking for some advice on some all-round products to correct the usual swirls, sun damage and light scratches on the following cars:
Red Evo (slightly pink)
Indigo Blue (metallic) Golf GTI
Black MX-5
I have one of these polishers: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Silverline-Rotary-Machine-Ca...
I have used the polisher, pads and some G3 with good results on various panels that I have painted in cellulose and 2 Pack but the pads are now in tatters and there's probably better compounds & finishing products than G3 and G6/10.
I welcome all advice on some good value products that will work with my polisher and ideally bring great results on all 3 cars, I don't expect flawless results but have plenty of time and patience.

G3 is FAR too abrasive for the paint on the two Jap cars - bit like taking a chisel to something that only needs planning!
Of course you can mix pads to get the desired level of cut/correction, but even so, a more genteel approach would be safer.
Pads wise, there's plenty on the market - a lot of them the same only a different colour at the request of the purchaser.
3M probably have the best pads, and their polish is very good too.
Have had some exposure to Meguiar's, but wasn't impressed with the ones available to me at the time - end up swapping between them and the 3M, which were getting a bit on the empty side.
Menzerna are good too, but tend to be a bit tempermental with humidty/heat conditons.
Not fussed on the Scholl Concept pads, except the special lambswool one, but their polishes are very good, especially the S17, which can be a one-step if used correctly, even on dark colours, as can be seen below:

Thanks for the advice,
I've seem the 3M pads on ebay - would these be the correct ones? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/3M-50488-PERFECT-III-YELLOW-...
Presuimably i'd need one of these too? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Velcro-Backing-Pad-75mm-3-M1...
I'll take a look at the Scholl s17 - those results look fantastic.
Would this 3M compound would be worth considering? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/3M-EXTRA-FINE-80349-CUTTING-...

You'd use the 75mm BP with a 4" pad, for doing door mirrors, pillars, tight areas where the standard 6" pad is too big - remember the outside edge of the pad is travelling faster than the centre section, so more friction means more heat.
The Extra Fine is a very good polish, very underrated actually - Fast Cut + and Ultrafina tend to be the main ones people know about.
That 3M yellow pad is designed for with their EF polish - colour coded like the Green compound pad is for the green topped FC+
Meguiar's soft pad is also quite a decent one too, and the burgundy has a good bit of bite as well, probably a bit less than the 3M Green.
You'll need a 3M black/blue for refining - if you used the Scholl S17, but found there were holograms/buffer trails when wiped down with some panel wipe, then that with UF would remove those.
