Hoping someone can help I have a noble m12 with a fibreglass body and whats happened is the paint in certain areas of the car has little patches or raised dimples which I think have been caused by me putting its outdoor cover on before giving the engine enough cooling time, so my question is, is it likely the car would need a respray in these areas or when this happens is it possible to have the paint blown in?? Any advice would be great oh and the pimples havent burst, god sounds like my car has a disease smile

Hi,

We get this a lot - I've had it on my Exige last winter and again this one.

What can happen with GRP cars is that moisture can be drawn into the GRP mat by capillary action. Very low temperatures then freeze the water, which expands as it freezes, causing the bubbling.

Sanding back down to the GRP, filling the pits, and then refinishing is the only repair option. If you don't have somewhere sheltered to keep the car, a harsh winter may prompt this every year.

We have a photo album of this issue, and our repair, on facebook here:

Though on this car, the blisters had burst.
