Hey

I'm thinking about buying snow foam for my car and wondered if anyone on here has used it, I've seen a couple of videos and it does look quite good, the big kit is £70 from amazon, this seems to be the standard price.

So has anybody from here used it or know much about it?

Thanks

You'd be well to have this moved into the technical section, under detailing.
What pressure washer have you got?
Link to Amazon kit?

Have a look on detailing world. There are a lot of people coming forward and saying snow foam is a waste of time. Enough that I won't be bothering with one.

At a recent Meguires presentation, they asked for our opinions on snow foam. Two had the lances. One rated it and the other said he thought it was rubbish. Meguires staff then said they'd tried it and found it no benefit.

I have a foam lance a Valet Pro snow foam, I'd classify myself as a realist rather than a dreamer detailer!

I'm not sure if I'd buy it again, it certainly doesn't make the dirt drop off but I would say it makes it easier to remove with the mitt, that can only be a good thing.

Gen2 snow foams are starting to appear, apparently with greater results so I shall give them a try to see how I get on.

Or you could spend the £70 on a DA..

I disagree. Snowfoam has its uses but will never replace a decent two bucket wash. What it will do is remove a certain amount of surface dirt and will lift away materials likely to cause swirl marks when washing. I don't use it every time I wash a car but I would not live without a decent snowfoam.

I use snowfoam and I do tend to think it is a little bit for showing off in front of the neighbours. I would say it depends how obsessive you are, if you are someone who wants the best for his car and wants to absolutely ensure the best possible care then snowfoaming is a legitimate step in ridding some heavier muck off your car before handwash. In reality a pressure rinse on its own will achieve similar results or if you want a cheaper alternative, a simple soaking it diluted All Purpose Cleaner will again pretty much do the same thing (except look all pretty and snow foamy). I still snowfoam mainly because its good fun, and tends to look professional if im doing other people's cars.

interesting....
my experience is that if around this time of year I give my car a proper 'detail' (fully clean, polish, sealant, and a couple of layers of dodo wax), then I can simply snow foam and jetwash the car for about the next 6 months and it stays easily good enough (assuming no major tar additions from roadworks or similar)
but i dont think Snow foam is much use on a car that hasn't had this prep done for a while (like the missus) - which would make pretty good sense considering how it works.

It's just so much fun and satisfying. I always used to spray the car with water and then a weak solution of car shampoo prior to handwashing. Now I just use the snow foam in place of the weak car shampoo. It's great and very cheap aside of the cost of the snow foam attachment.
