Hi,

I am looking to replace the front cross member on my XR2 as it has some rust in some hard to reach places so might just get a new one in there. The panel looks like this:

What is the best way to get paint protection on the inside of this panel? It clearly has big holes in it so the inside is open to the elements. At the factory, it would have been dipped but I can't do this.

I could weld up and smooth over all the holes - any other suggestions??

Waxoyl or similar product application is the answer.

Thanks guys.

Can I use waxoyl (or similar products) on bare metal? Does it "stick" or is it too viscous? The only reason I ask is that this panel is right next to the exhaust manifold and may get quite warm and is also likely to get road grime, water and other ste in it.

Thanks smile

I was thinking more about the metal you cant see, the wax injection is ideal for that, for exterior i would [ do use ] bilt hambers electrox it is a zinc[heavy] primer and put a top coat on that, have a look on bilt hambers website.
