Had really good results thanks to peoples advice on here regarding making my black van shine. Used clay bar, polish and wax and it did feel like glass when I'd done. Washed it today as it had rained and got a bit dirty. Now it doesn't feel smooth any more. Used meguiars products throughout, wash mit, drying towel etc. Is it normal to lose the super smooth feel after only one wash or have I done something wrong? Thanks in advance.

When you say smooth, do you mean slippery or a roughness is back?
Are you using just your fingertips or putting clingfilm over them?
If the latter, and there's roughness felt after rinsing, you may need a better clay bar.
Which one did you use?

Just finger tips and it's not rough just not slippery when touched. It still felt slippery when I touched it when it was dirty before the wash then after washed and dried it seemed to lose that feel. What does cling film do? Just used the meguiars clay that comes in a pack with quick detailer.

Clingfilm heights the sensitivity of your fingertips, so you get a more accurate idea as to how rough the paintwork is.
The Meg's one you're probably referring to is a very mild clay, and you'd be better with something more aggressive (Bilt Hamber original) to remove all the contaminants.
You might also need a Tar & Glue Remover if any of the lower sections have road tar instead of just industrial fallout.

Did you rewash the van again after claying?
Which Meg's shampoo & wax did you buy/use?
If Gold Class, then there's a fair chance you've made too strong a solution, and it's stripped the wax. It's not a good shampoo - in fact Meg's products in general are very so-so, only a few are what would be considered decent from the consumer range.

How are you rinsing the van - hosepipe or pressure washer?

After claying never re washed just polished and waxed. After a week washed with Megs nxt wash maybe over did it with the mixture? It does seem to have stripped everything off can see every chip and scratch again. Hose pipe no pressure washer. Just got some poor boys black hole to try. I'll see what happens.

Another factor may be re-contamination, by this I mean is it parked anywhere near near trees, railway line or near an airport. Are any neighbours having any building work done? Just examples but Im sure you get the jist. yes

Whats wrong with poorboys blackhole glaze ive used it to good effect on a couple of my motors. Its quite heavy with fillers and with a wax over the top has lasted quite a while on my van.Im sure some of the detailers on here will tell me there are better products out there but it is only £12 and the guy is using it on his van.

I think it's more likely that the wax ytou used has no protecting properties at all.

A proper hard wax should keep that paint feeling good for anything from 6 weeks to 6 months, dependingon which one you go for and what/ how you are washing it with
