Had my wheels removed last year, after a few runs they've acquired some brake dust marks despite cleaning - I suppose the hot particles make them stick to wheel lacquer a bit more than regular muck! Can anyone recommend a decent product to soak the wheels in to remove the stuff?

Depending on how bad it is, anything from Dodo Juice Mellow Yellow to Wonder Wheels may be required.
If you need to use WW, only do 1/3 of a wheel before rinsing, and doing the next 1/3rd.

Steve,

Pop round to mine with Aaron at the weekend (you're welcome on your own too, shout if you want the addy). I've got various cleaners and once clean we can seal them up to help keep them cleaner for longer. thumbup

Use a claybar, should remove it. Then seal the wheels with a good few coats of Poorboys wheel sealant.

You should see an improvement, next time around.

Completely forgot what you do for a living mate! You might be able to help out with some scratches & things too, but wheels are the really annoying bit at the moment. This w/e difficult as g/f's parents are in town, any weekday evening's possible for you?

No longer detailing for a living but keeping my hand in. biggrin The Mrs got made redundant and I needed to have a definite income so I shut it down. frown

No problem to take a look one evening. Only thing is I'm getting home about half 7 at the moment. Could you drop the wheels round and I'll clean them up and run them back for you when they're done? Or would it be a one off at a time job?

Can't drop em round as they are on the car wink They don't need much, just a quick once over with a professional product rather than the basic crap I've got so wasn't looking for a full detail job, just a proper clean for a beer - otherwise I may as well buy the right stuff myself smile

Bilberry is the best product out there....no argument. Then clay the wheels before a second wash and a couple of coats of a specialist wax or sealant.

Just to go a full turn of the wheel (pun intended wink) the bulk of the deposits were metal deposits and Iron Cut got 99% of it out with a single application. biggrin

Good to see you again Steve. thumbup

I find Megs wheel brightener to be very good, but have not ever tried Bilberry and lots of people seem to rate that. I use Poorboys wheel sealant on the wheels after and sometimes also a coat of wax.

I use bilberry on my stainless wires. Works great.
Wash wheels first then spray on bilberry and agitate with a brush. Rinse off. Apply Dodo sealant.
They are pretty new so no need for polishing yet!
Tyre dressing then adds that little extra to compliment.
