So this will be the M177 with the hybrid gubbins, 580hp maybe? Should be cracking if they can keep the weight to 1300-1400kg.

Sounds a very similar concept to the forthcoming GR ( Gazoo racing / Toyota ) GR supposedly out next year.

Due in 2028? We'll be bored of the hype by then.

Good news, here's hoping it makes it to production.

Great news, The Evija and Emira show that they understand design purity probably better than Ferrari at the moment (and I'd argue Lamborghini) so this could be great if they can pul it off. 2028 is a very ambitious timescale though.

Excellent. The Emira is a fantastic design, full-on supercar looks for less than 911 money - if they can build on that with a V8 and more power it could be brilliant.
Could be up against the Toyota GR GT too. That’d be a fun group test.

Nissan also rumoured to be adding to the fun with perhaps a revised and updated GTR.
Lotus no doubt have to be wary though of the issues on build / paint quality and other issues that plagued the Emira launch and subsequently.

Mmmm yeah some similarity but the GR GT is front-mid engine. This new Lotus is apparently going to be rear-mid engined.

As for engines, I would half expect it to have a Geely designed and built engine. They don't have one known to the public but they do have this new twin turbo V6 which is modular and could spawn a V8: https://www.carsales.com.au/editorial/details/geel...

Ace. Although, I feel like it's the wrong V8 for such a car not because of any technical reason but it looks like it should have a screaming V8 rather than a thumping V8.

Finally a proper engine. Let's hope they keep the weight down in the rest of the car.

Some of us are still waiting on a refund of their M250 deposit. So you'll have to excuse my cynicism for now.

I was going to ask "even if the Lotus is better", but of course the answer is still yes for a lot of people because it's a badge thing.

At this end of the market, badge is far more important than any tangible quality of the vehicle itself.
