I am hoping someone can give me a few pointers on this and recommend a company to do it.

I need to transport a car from London up to Cumbria and back again for a car show.

The car has been loaned to us and I need to make sure its well handled. Insurance value is £350 if that helps. It needs to be enclosed transportation.

An idea of cost would also be very helpful.

Have you tried http://www.shiply.com

best advice is to be flexible on dates as they can then "match" the delivery journey with a pickup on the way back saving money all round.

Stan Willetts

I used Stan to bring my car from Glasgow down to Nottingham He's insured to £150k - not sure whether that rules him out - i assume your motor is £350,000 or did you mean £350?

nice chap and has good covered wagon (Mercedes 7.5T)

No doubt you will want it on a fixed body truck and not a covered trailer!

The journey you describe will not be cheap - the driver will have to abide by tacho rules and limit his hours per day.hehe

Not sure Melvin enclosed ... if it's a proper works thing and not you just getting some ebay project home, I'd pay the money and go with the best I could (if it someone else's car)

Didn't used to be, does now looking at the update on here:

More likely to be a case of who can do it when you want it done I expect; I think most like to schedule things in a little while in advance, so they can match up return trips loaded rather than empty - which is what I'd try to do if I was doing it.

OP: What car is it - any pics? smile
