Reminds me of an old friend who was on a DD ban, bought one of the ex BT vans out of the auction and painstakingly painted all the Telecom writing back in with blue paint where they had removed the stickers, drove it all through his ban.

I had a J for a while - dragged from a scrapyard, but never had time to restore it. While I owned it I joined the club http://www.jtypevan.com/ adn we had a stand at the NEC classic show - it's amazing, considering there were only about 50,000 built how many people learned to drive on them, their dad had one, they worked at the factory, got to know their wife in one, the greengrocer had one etc!

My mate who helped me get it from the scrapper rescued and rebuilt a milkfloat and accumlated lots of spares - this is one we built from various parts that were left over! Very cute, but neither of us had space to keep it, so it had to be sold frown

The Thames 400e was also a very attractive over cab design, not many survive now sadly

I love the old Bedfords.

I remember as a young boy, being driven in one with the doors latched open and no seat belts.

On reflection maybe my parents were trying to tell me something !

if it's gonna be a Transit it has to be the twin rear wheeled LWB

Ah,I remember driving one as a teenager as a weekend job for a catering company We called it "the two litre purple people eater". It went quite fast for a van and you could spin the rear wheels when it was empty!!

Went on a family holiday in one of these about 1980.

Tried to buy one of these for £15 when I was 12yo. Dad wouldn't allow it though.

ETA
Loved A55 vans for some reason as a kid.
