Can you identify this part? BTB 1278
Discussion
Just sifting through some NOS junk that's been booting around for ages and identified most of it including some Midget diff housings and Spitfire/Midget 1500 3rd motion shafts and MGB gearbox extensions (seriously who collects 10 3rd motions shafts or gearbox remote extensions, neither is ever going to wear out!!)
I have 3 brand new in original BL wooden boxes 2 still sealed up diff housings, they are larger than Midget and made of cast iron wearing the part number BTB 1278.
I thought MGA or early B at first but the numbers while similar don't tie up, any ideas?

Just to clarify. NOT a midget diff.
sorry as normal I didn't fully explain or make myself cleartheir knowledge (and Dave's parts buying? and selling?) usually extends beyond just Spridgets
plus on the BBS are forums for MGB general and technical, MGA and MGC - http://www2.mgcars.org.uk/cgi-bin/gen5?runprog=mgb...
ETA: unlike yourself I do fully read the posts if not always fully comprehend them

and I sometimes misread the posts
