Hi. I am looking to get the plastic rear side panel fixed up (currently a small tear) and would appreciate any suggestions. Do I replace one panel, all panels, who can do this work etc? I am in the London area.

Any help/pointers would be much appreciated.

Ps I spoke to CE Moore in Park Royal, London who suggested doing all the windows etc and at a cost of £500. I would rather avoid this sort of money but if needs must..........

thank you

You could try D Class in Woking.

I have the same dilemma on my 129 and I`m putting off getting ALL windows replaced.Bite the bullet and fork out for the lot as I expect like mine the other windows will be faded so having one replaced will look odd.Make sure you find a good bloke for the job or it will spoil the whole car.I am going to use Autotrim of Reading 01189868470.He is a one man band,re-trims classics the lot,he will remove the hood and replace all windows for about £500.Lets face it the hood is the most important part of a cabriolet?

It's no substitution for any of the above , but as a temporary fix , buy some Geocel Aquarium sealer and a cocktail stick . Costs about 4 pounds and will waterproof the leak and stay flexible until you decide what to do !

Thank you all for your replies. thumbup

I agree totally that the hood is vital to the car's looks. And my sanity too! Every day it makes me sad.

Bullet bitten and D:Class it is for a hood out and full re-trim/new windows. Going in on July 18th. Will let you know how it goes.

And thank you mickyveloce - will get the geocel aquarium in the meantime.

Interested to see results.

Father has an 1984 280ce, and a 1964 230SL and has been recommended both for light resto work. So some info would be good

update.............

Having previously booked the car in at D: Class to get all rear windows reaplced it just worked out too difficult to get down there etc.

In the end I used CE Moore in Park Royal and I have to say they have done a superb job. The piping and stitching is immaculate and it has really finshed the car off woohoo

It was not cheap at £600 but I would happily recommend them to anyone.

Cock. May have to find somewhere north of the m25, preferably north of the M42...... But that might be pushing it
