Beleive I am correct I'n saying that this event was orig started by Dealer Rod Leach , some years ago ??
Are you thinking of Rod Leach's regular classic car meetings at the Goat in Hertford Heath that he has been doing for 20+ years? COTC was started by the local Rover P5 owners.Classics on the Common started as a turn-up-and-park event, but it has become so popular that it's all ticket only (sold out) and spectators are advised to use public transport. I stopped going when the traffic and parking got too silly.
It may be the biggest event of it's type, but there are others (in Herts) where you can still just turn up and parking is easy.

Why is it held on a Wednesday though??
Probably because a weekend event would cause utter (rather than partial) chaos.
COTC has outgrown it's venue and it's popularity has made it become a national event. But at least they're not charging Silverstone Classic or Goodwood prices (yet).
Myself and my C&SC colleagues were there in force. In fact we never miss it because it has such a brilliant atmosphere and such amazing variety of classics. Where else do you see a grotty Dolly (rather like my old one, except not beige!) parked up beside a genuine C-type? It's never safe at Harpenden to assume that anything is a replica.
Anyway, our piccies are in this report http://www.classicandsportscar.com/news/classic-ca...
Just added another 40+ photos to the story. Shame we can't have one of every car there!

Whoo! Wizardskills and I both make it into the picture of the AC Ace - as do our cars, albeit in the background! Anyway, our piccies are in this report http://www.classicandsportscar.com/news/classic-ca...

It was an awesome event this year. So many nice cars where there. The atmosphere of the whole event was fantastic. Everyone there seem to have a genuine interest in the cars which is quite refreshing compared to some of the shows that I have been to. I really would recommend going next year if you are local.
I didn't manage to get photos of everything, but the stand out cars where the two F40's, Ferrari 275, Lamborghini 400gt and many many more. Anyway, here are my photos from the event.

And finally one of mine

Isn't Bromley bigger?Edited by Roy C on Tuesday 26th July 07:56
Weekday afternoon/evening, no arena, no public address, no trade stands.
Shame they couldn't continue the 'just turn up' aspect, in that respect it's a victim of its own success.
