Is anyone going along? I'll be taking the Citroen for a run over for the day, would be good to meet some other PHers if any of you motley bunch are going...
Ben
Think I spotted you in Skipton this afternoon. Whoever it was it was a stunning Citroen anyway. I was driving a red MG Maestro if that rings a bell.Ben

I think I saw you there Ben but you were deep in conversation with another chap so I left you to it and you'd headed off by the time I did the rounds again.
The weather picked up in the afternoon though, there was sunshine and everything!
Got a few snaps:

I really, really want a Lancia Delta...
Cheers,
Tom

Hi Tom,
Sorry I missed you, I was there until about 1.30pm but then had to dash - as much as I like cars I wasn't going to miss roast beef, yorkshire puddings and roasties
That Delta Integrale was stunning wasn't it...
Was your Mrs sitting in your Morris reading the paper? I had a wander over but didn't want to stick a head in the window and introduce myself as a man from the internet - she might have got a bit worried.
That purple Escort next to mine (and in your photo). I was dead chuffed when I got there and saw it as I was expecting to have some good rally banter with the guy. It had full buckets, harnesses, upgraded engine (1700 rather than the 1300 on the V5!) and anti roll bars and cage. However the guy said it lived in a garage and only came out for shows. I really don't know why people bother...

Hi Ben,
Good idea about the lunch, I'll remember that for next time - especially given the price of the catering wagons! That was my missus in the passenger seat looking unimpressed with the weather and waiting for her mum to turn up on the bike.
The Morris felt very much the poor relation amongst some of the beauties it was next to, still no need for the commentator to be rude about it though! Like you said, I don't see the point in it sitting in the garage, it's my only car and I'll keep using it!
Cheers,
Tom

Tell me about it. I arrived and got a bacon roll (horrible bacon underdone, bland McDonalds type bread roll) - that was £3.50. Small back coffee (nescafe in a poly cup) - £1.50. I lived in London and New York for 15 years and am used to people taking the piss but those surly butty van t
ts really took the piss!
After that I thought I'd go elsewhere for lunch!
I didn't hear the comments on your motor. It was Mark Woodward himself doing the calling. If he'd said anything about mine I'd have chinned the

That's kind of you to say so but in all honesty it's less pretty close up! It hasn't had any restoration work done since the early 60s (until now that is).
I have a feeling (and this is purely a guess) that because mine is notable as 'work in progress' as the gaffer tape on the running boards will attest, that it doesn't attract as much 'Ooohh shiney & beautifully restored' attention. I'm rather proud that it's been in the family for over 70 years but such information is not immediately apparent from its condition!
With only 3 cars in the arena for the 'Pre-1950' category, it would have been nice for him to have a chat with all of the owners rather than just 2 of them (and nicer if he got the make and model of the car correct too).
Enough rambling! Thanks for your comments,
Cheers,
Tom

Nothing wrong with that - it's called patina. My own 1964 MGB is a bit rough around the edges - that's what happens when you use them properly rather than just driving them to car shows on a Sunday. The photo was taken near Speyer in Germany during a continental trip.LordBretSinclair said:

I like that a lot - they are after all designed to be driven! Once I've finished getting the Morris into a state I'm happy with it's going to be driven no less than it is now (although perhaps not to Germany given it's top speed)...
I forgot to say Ben, I had a good look around the Citroen and it's a splendid vehicle, I especially like the colour. Not standard I'm guessing?

Cheers,
Tom
