Idly browsing an AC Forum I came across this.

Some of the more esoteric German coachbuilders normally stump me but not something like this

Now pay attention at the back - we're talking about the car! - What is it?

It looks to be the one-off prototype Shelby Lone Star.

3-5 years ago it was under long term restoration, don't know if it's finished yet.

Yeah I read the article in the first link after I posted. Final pic caption: "This is the Lonestar tub in 2007, the subject of a nut and bolt restoration by Geoff Howard of Danbury, Conn. Geoff has been working on the car for probably ten years, so it can't be that much longer. The front and rear body sections will be fully removable"

Back in the late 80s I walked past what used to be a Ford dealer in Stratford, East London and saw this Wilment Cobra sitting there, my mouth dropped at seeing such an amazing thing surrounded by Transits on one side and a tower block on the other.

'kin ell !! I remember that car sat in John Wilments showroom on the A316 at Twickenham but much earlier than that , I have never forgotten it ! The guy in the showroom said that Mr Wilment was scared of driving it !

Anyone got anymore info ?

Looks like it's still around, as a snap was taken at the Silverstone Classic last year:

Shame it looks like it's lost it's lovely original magnessium Halibrand's and is wearing a ghastly set of polished ally versions instead frown

magnesium
Halibrands

also looks like it's lost its Fiat 8V underpinnings, but let's not dwell on trivialities, eh?
