What a spectacular collection by someone who has the knowledge and enthusiasm ....the real thing.

Nick is a great guy but I think he has blotted his copy book with his new Classic car investment fund that he has helped set up. The result of which will be wonderful cars being taken out of circulation and stored purely as an investment tool by people only interested in making a buck. It brings back memories of the late 80's early 90's classic car boom, and we all know how that went....
I do not wish him ill in any way but I think his new venture is bad for the classic car market.

Couldn't agree more. Actually saddened me to see some of those stored away probably only seeing the light of day a few days of the year. That's not what these cars were built for. I do not wish him ill in any way but I think his new venture is bad for the classic car market.
Besides....no GT40?

I couldn't agree more. Turning them into trading commodities is not a good thing.I do not wish him ill in any way but I think his new venture is bad for the classic car market.
I was lucky enough to visit his hangers a couple of months ago and it was very impressive to see all of those cars packed in to one place. He seemed like a fairly unassuming chap but we didn't get onto the subject of 'investments'

Nice to see someone un-pretentious enough to pronounce it Porsh and not Porschah. I always feel that you're going to call it Porschah then you should have a good go at asaying Lamborghini and Ferrari as the Italians would. After all we say Paris and not Paree.
Totally agree Jan.My opinion of him was soured many years ago: There was a company just near where I was working and they restored old F1 cars, just a small outfit but they showed me round once and it was amazing. They went under due to NM not paying them due to some finacial difficulties he was having at the time (divorce seems to ring a bell?) and being a small firm working on high value items they couldn't stay afloat.
Seems he's doing alright these days though...

That barn looks a rubbish place to keep such an amazing collection of cars, Chris Evans got it right when he had a display garage made for his Ferrari collection. If I had Nick Masons money, I'd have built something beautifully architectural to compliment those stunning cars.....I've never had the pleasure of meeting the guy, but he's clearly passionate about his car collection and thankfully isn't afraid to use them on the track. Too many collectors squiral away priceless cars never to be seen and at least Mr Mason isn't like that. They are his toys afterall and he doesn't have to share them!
his daughter had her wedding at the hotel i worked at last year, he seemed a nice enough chap. And im pritty sure he uses those cars more than most collecters.both goodwood events plus more.if i owned those kind of cars i would do the same. its silly to think you could take your 250F on a trackday every weekend, or drive the thing to the shops.yes they should be driven and appreciated by others, but these are very important bits of history, they need looking after too.
What a great collection of cars, makes me wish I had continued Drumming when I was a teenager
Met Nick once at Wiscombe for an Aston Martin owners club Hillclimb event back in 1983. He was driving his 250GTO, just arrived like everyone else, put the numbers on, timing strut, and competed, no airs and graces, a “normal” bloke who is well into his cars.
If I was him though, I’d sell that Piper Cub,, and get a Spitfire in there

Never mind the car collection, when is there gonna be a new Pink Floyd album and tour
Did you see the "Pink Floyd Night" on BBC3 the other night? Has anyone put a value on Nick Mason`s collection?? it must be millions? I wonder what his insurance premium is?That alone must be more than the price of my dream classic.
