Octane Magazine - how much?
Discussion
Got my first issue of Octane magazine today on their 3 issues for a £1 deal and then £20.75 subs for each 6 months thereafter.
However, the copy they sent me dosesn't have a cover price or bar code so how much is it normally per issue from the newstands? Like to know how much I'm saving

All the better glossy car magazines seem to be around this price now , Octane is probably my favourite as it suits my eclectic taste for old and new and seems devoid of some of the classic car snobbery that can inhabit some publications , they always seem to have the best pictures and write ups of events as well. Top magazine in my opinion , having said that I only buy the issues that really interest me leaving my pennies free to deviate in other motoring or other tastes on any given month.
I only discovered Octane quite recently and have been impressed enough to subscribe. I enjoy its in-depth articles and think of it as "the thinking-man's Classic & Sportscar".
I may know a little less than the next man about classic cars (probably a lot less) but my current project means I know a little more about Jaguar's XJ13. I recently forked out for an Octane back-copy from 2006 with a write-up of the XJ13. I really was impressed with the accuracy of the write-up - so much nonsense has been written about the XJ13 but Octane really got every fact absolutely correct (as far as I am aware). Confirmed to me I was right to subscribe and gave me confidence in the accuracy of their articles written about cars I know much less about.

I’ll be honest and say that I wouldn’t class myself as a ‘classic car enthusiast’. However I’ve become bored with the endless modern Porsche articles and Ferrari special editions that add another 1bhp that you find in Evo/Car. I read about cars that I’ve never heard of before, or learn about cars I saw when I was growing up but missed due to age at the time (the “Other Porsches” article for example). There is always something interesting to digest and read again, I’d say it’s the mag I look forward to.
Thanks for the input guys
I've now had a chance to read some of the mag (is the January 2012 issue!!) and have to say I am impressed - particularly enjoyed the Austin Healey feature and the piece on David Purley. Hope to read more this evening! I also now quite fancy an expensive watch . . . I've also put the 1:18 CMC Ferrara Race Car Transporter on my Christmas list but at £639.95 I doubt if Santa will oblige
