In car cassette adaptor ....
Discussion
Hi Guys, just a heads up, I was looking around B&Q today for diy stuff and came across some in car cassette adaptors, basically this allows the old type of cassette player found in most modern classics to play an MP3 or ipod through the system, via a bit of kit that is shaped like a cassette with a length of wire and a std 3.5mm jack plug.
I have heard of them before always thought them to be a bit mickey mouse to be honest and never botherd, however everytime I take out the old SL I keep remembering that one day I will get round to wiring in an ipod to the back of it.
So, as they were £2 .... yes £2 in B&Q today I thought worth a try.
Not used in the SL yet but put in an old VW sharon to test, best two quid I have spent for a long while .... great bit of kit, sounds really good and will be going back for a couple more.
Cheers

I like them- anywhere which is reasonably densely populated they work much better than the FM transmitters, and are cheaper. My MX-5 came with one - I probably wouldn't have gone and bought it, thinking the same about them as you. That said, it works remarkably well with the music on my iPhone - far better than the FM transmitter I had and spent more time changing frequency to avoid static than actually listening to music.

I've had a bunch of these ranging from a posh £10 one to a cheap £1.45 one and they've all been terrible! I think the 80s vintage Ford cassette player in my car hates them, because they only ever play out of one speaker, or they constantly trigger the auto reverse mechanism.
What's worse, I couldn't even take the two priciest ones back to the shop because I bought them from Zavvi and Woolworths.
