I give you the Maserati 450S, or Tipo 54:
Is that not quite simply the most fabulous 4-wheeled vehicle you have ever set eyes on? Plenty more picture, including the (not-at-all) oily bits, here:

That is knee-tremblingly beautiful, and being a 450 it would shift too..

I saw a TV show a while ago which featured Maserati in this particular episode. There were a few cars featured (Ghibli - incredible, 3500GT, Bora etc) but the stand out was some Italian guy gunning his 450s down the public roads - amazing sounds and vision. I think the show was probably Classic Marques...
Further to that i've always lusted after the 450s Le Mans Coupe. I've often though that if money were no object i'd commission a replica of one of these but built to Costins original drawing as apparently Zagato (?) did a bit of a botch on the aerodynamics - it'd be interesting to see just what that would be capable of if developed properly.

My senitments are it's loverly... You cannot truly judge using the OPs picture, try this

am I Hanging or Banging on... No airbrushing by me, alll taken form the same page as the OP referenced. I will add my observation about the Ferrari shown as "superior" to this Maser... it amused me to notice even with the front wings sculpted so deeply and a sizeable cutout just behind, that the exhaust is still hung somewhat randomly along the sides
