So I was looking around on car and classic, and I came across this little beaut.

Are these a usable car at this age?
Can anyone tell me anything about them?

I ran a 61 Superminx identical to the one in the photo as an everyday car back in the early nineties as a poor student. At the time, it was more than capable of keeping up with modern traffic and to date it was one of the most comfortable cars I have owned. I regularly got six students in thanks to front and rear bench seats.
Parts shouldn’t be a problem as they are shared with the standard Minx and contemporary Route’s group products (Humber, Singer, Commer etc).
Later cars had front disc brakes, but lost the wonderful wrap around rear window. The 1750 was the best engine option (mine was a 1500) and the autos eat rear diff’s. From memory, the steering box was a problem (I think I went through three) and the eternal tin worm needed constant work.
A great alternative to a Minor with a little 'Detroit' thrown in.

Mine is the 1500 version and the only criticism i have is the low cruising speed (Indicated 60mph when my commute is now mainly motorways and A-roads). As said mine is very comfy and i love the bench seat and column shift

it usually pays to spend a bit more for a good one than trying to catch up on one that isn't so good and the fact that it's been regularly used recently is a bonus if you're looking for a daily drive too
I've never seen the car in the metal or know the seller but I've seen his posts on this car and his g/f's classic and he's done some commisioning work and driven out some of the early wrinkles of this car that you'll benefit from
up to you of course the car could be a right ruff 'un but it doesn't look it (perhaps something on the floor pan for winter depending on when the photos were taken)

Nigel,
Lewis has a lovely car and yes I have read some of his previous topics on it.
The problem I have is that I already run 2 x V8's 1x bmw 6 cylinder a 2.4 vtec and a 1050cc motorbike so this is limiting the budget in what I can reasonably get away with spending (or turning up at home with).
No amount of man maths can work on this one.
