Ive got a Carrera Coupe 3.2 with 111k from new on it.
On a C plate.
6/7 Fuch
87 Spec, widebody seats, usual 3.2 stuff.
Completely standard.
Been standing for 4 years, so I need to run it up thats due to go
New Gearbox rebuild by Paragon.
Last of the 915's with side oil cooler
New sachs power clutch
[£4000 bill]
New exhaust.
[£1000 bill]
Brakes,
Recent engine service, ic and dme.
[£1000 bill]
Its going for 10 if you're interested.

To my mind a 3.2 with the benefit of the bosch EFI is miles better than the 3.0 SC with the comedy injection.For 911's of 1974 to 1989 get over to www.impactbumpers.com
They're out there for 10 and can be good. But then if your luck's in you may be able to take a dump in the queens handbag!
But most are uber mileage uber, owner's buckets of plop that have had crappy welding and are always gonna cost as more and more go wrong. Probably Targa.
That's Ok if you're clever round a spanner and have facilities.
My advice? Save a bit more and get a better machine..

To be honest £10k is a little on the low side, maybe a tired old Guards Red Targa if you want a 3.2.
You could get a 3.0 or mid '70s 2.7 for that though.

Hi Mick. Great choice of vehicle. There ain't much better. Hard to get a good one for £10K, rust is the usual issue. Worth a look at Stuttgartmetals car. Can't vouch but he's a fellow petrol head and an old mate. We knocked around together 30 odd years ago when sticking V6's into Escorts and Cortinas where the buzz. Bumped into him at an Oulton Park RS day a few years back. Jese it is a small world. Hope all is well Stutt's On a C plate.

yes, things aren't quite so black now.
The Divorce has killed 911 ownership for a few years, and the C 3.2 has got to go.
Personally Id do anything to keep it, well, when I say anything I don't mean anything, but you kno Ill one day return with a rubystone 64 if I get the chance.
Beautiful cars that are still surprisingly swift amongst modern machinery.
I also would plump for the 3.2 coupe over a targa (less likely to have had years of water ingress no matter how tight the targa seals, and a much prettier shape to my eye).
10k with a bit of shopping around will get you one that isnt a nail. Try if possible to make sure a top end rebuild's been undertaken if the mileage is high, but by the same token I wouldnt worry about a high mileage motor! Mines done around 148,000 with a complete rebuild around 20k miles ago.
Parts dont have to be stupid expensive, but mine now needs an exhaust which is VERY expensive unless you know someone.
Stuttgart - where did you get an exhaust fitted for £1000??? Im getting quoted anywhere between 2500 and 3500 for standard oem / dansk stainless / Hayward Scott... Ive been patching it up for the past couple of years before taking the plunge - but theres only so much putty 1 exhaust can take
Anyway - back on topic, Go for it, you will love the driving experience, you will love the sound when you get above 4-5000 revs and the intoxicating push of that flat 6 will (probably) have you hooked!

Why would you want to be talked out of it? Every petrolhead should own one at some stage in their motoring life.
I havent, sadly, got one yet as still paying off divorce costs. What i spent on my divorce would have bought me a 930 3.3 Turbo!!!
One day, maybe, my driveway will be the home of the aforementioned cars.
