I guess others have purchased a car only to get it home and discover it's been bodged ...
I knew my Gilbern was shot but didn't expect to find someone had pushed a piece of angle iron across the main rear suspension pick up points to help hold the car together ..

Anyone got anything better ..... ??

This thread reminds me of Minder! Arthur sells a car to someone & he brings it back the next day complaining the wings have been filled with newspaper. Arthur denies all knowledge.
- But Arthur, it's yesterday's paper!!
It was a lovely motor yesterday. Now theres a free newspaper, shut the door on the way out.- But Arthur, it's yesterday's paper!!

When my Grandfather brought the Series 1 Land Rover back from Africa it had a rather clever bodge.
When you looked at the bonnet there was an odd looking knot sticking up.
The bonnet catch/close device was kaput. Someone 'fixed' it by nailing a hole in the bonnet and feeding through a string. On the end of the string, inside the engine bay, was a brick.
Once it was fixed the strange engine knock on cornering was also sorted

when i picked up my last 924 turbo about 10 miles from where we picked it up in the middle of nowhere throttle cable snapped, managed a temp fix with a hair band, a zip tie, ,a hose clip, a screw driver bit and some trim from the seat, all sourced from in the car. realised once back at home i had in the boot of the car we went in an old toolbag full of more useful bits. never mind half an hours fiddling on a sunny day not the worst way to spend a sunday..
