Just registered with PH so this is my first post!

I'm seeking some useful input from folk who might be (or have been) in a similar position.

I have a small private collection of Italian classic cars (1976 - 1996) comprising the marques of Alfa, Lancia and Maserati, including some unusual stuff. For the past 4 years or so I have had all vehicles insured with AON on a single, multi-vehicle CHUBB 'Masterpiece Classic Car' policy. I have been very pleased with the policy (price, cover and flexibility in particular) but, for whatever reason, AON are no longer offering this policy. Although the renewal price of the replacement policy they are offering (from RSA) is lower than the CHUBB policy, the cover being offered does not fit my requirements, so I'm looking at my options.

I have read quite a few threads from PH and the name LOCKTONS seems to crop up fairly regularly so I will certainly give them a call. Other than that, I will probably also contact all the usual suspects, including:

RH
Heritage
Hagerty
Peter James
Peter Taylor
Pete Best
Performance Direct
Lancaster
Sureterm
Carole Nash
Adrian Flux
Zurich private clients

However, as I was so content with the CHUBB policy it seems sensible for me to seek it out again. To that end, does anyone here have the CHUBB 'Masterpiece Classic Car' policy with alternative insurer/broker and if so, please would you reply here let me know the company name.

Many thanks!

You might get a better response in the Classic Car thread:

I have heard Footman James can be good aswell.

Do we get any pics of said collection?

I've got a Chubb Masterpiece policy arranged through this firm, following recommendations on the PH Porsche forum

Thanks for the advice - posted a link to this thread over there.

Footman James and AON are one and the same (behind the scenes) and neither do the CHUBB policy any longer, sadly.

I'll sort that out and do some kind of 'intro' post :-)

Sorry - it's a joke, a Chris with a small collection of Italian vintage cars... smile

Got the same Italian car habit as you.

Insured 6 Alfas on 3000 miles each, ranging from modified & imported 80s GTV6 3.0 and 1990s 155 Q4 also imported and modded through to 1960s Giulia coupes with the odd Sud thrown in; Total came to just over £600 through Adrian Flux.

The key issue is what the renewal quote will be in June as in my experience, the first year's premium is always a sweetener to get you in the door.

Been very pleased with Hagerty over the past few years, very knowledgeable, helpful and if you have a few cars with them then they can accomodate cars they wouldnt cover normally... E.g future classic type things from the mid / late nineties. Was gutted when they stopped covering Skylines though :-((

Why Locktons doesn't figure more in all these threads I have no idea. I've been insuring my cars with them for years, and on the one time I had need of them they were there on the instant.

I have the Aston and Healey with Hagerty and have been quite happy with them. Pity they stopped covering TVRs though.

I have eight cars including two TVRs covered by Hagerty. The only people who would cover a modern GT3 and a LR110 plus the classics on one policy. Good service and competitive

I also have a multi car policy with Hagerty and have been very impressed with their service and ability to accommodate unusual cars and requirements.

I have a Chubb Masterpiece "Classic Car Policy" with MWA

www.mwainsurance.co.uk

Contact is Ben Stagg and he is a top bloke.

I had up until last October the full blown Masterpiece policy, but then was offered a Lockton
Chubb Masterpiece "Classic Car Policy". They are VERY different policies and is reflected in the price. If I am honest I will go back to the full blown one this year as I find the Chubb Masterpiece "Classic Car Policy" a bit to restrictive for my needs-but its still an excellent policy.

Very odd. I had two cars with them one of which was my Griff 500 and lastyear I had to go elsewhere for the Griff because "they no longer covered TVRs"... confused

Very interesting - I've never had that much success with Adrian Flux in the past but having something to reference is useful, thanks.

That was certainly my experience with AON when the premium doubled at the second year - they claimed to have woefully undercharged me the first year by mistake. To be honest, I always felt it was way too cheap, so they probably did! It'll be interesting to see what quotes I get this time around.

How do you reference a specific post within a thread like that? I can't see how you identify the message number.

Thanks for the advice.

Are you able to expand on what the 'full blown' policy is, in general terms? Is this policy still aimed at classics of more for high value 'modern' cars? I am a bit confused about who's providing what! Am I right in thinking that you're currently with MWA (with the classic policy) were previously with Locktons (also with the classic policy) and prior to that had the 'full blown' policy with someone else, or one of those two?

Just trying to understand :-)

Thanks for everyone's replies so far - all very useful.

Putting the issue of TVR cover aside smile it seems that Hagerty are quite popular here, along with Locktons. Also, both Primo and Symmetry (neither of which I'd heard of before) look very interesting so I shall be contacting them too.

All in all a great response and very helpful! Any more info, keep it coming.

Once I get through the murky insurance waters I'll report back with findings.

Cheers!
