Wonder what happened to my old RS2000 X-Pack?
Discussion
Just read a thread in Readers Cars about a Cossie powered MK2 Escort which has got me thinking about my old RS2.
The car in question was a genuine factory built MK2 Escort RS2000 X-Pack in red, registered TYD 800W on the 25th October 1980. I was living in Exeter Devon when i sold the car circa 1988.
Regrettably i have lost all the photos i had of this wonderful car so cannot share them with you.
A brief spec from memory.
Rosso red paint.
7.5" deep dish RS 4 spokes with the spoke centres painted Rosso Red and the rims polished.
Chocolate brown custom interior.
Stage1 engine, 2.1 Pinto with twin 45 side draft carbs (Webbers or Dellortos can't remember)
Custom made stainless exhaust.
Top of the range sound system.
Just wondering if any PH members remember this car from before or after i owned it. Any info, stories or pic's you may have would be nice to hear/see.

Done...the section I've posted it in is 'private' unless you're logged in, but hopefully someone will see it and respond. I've linked back to this thead also.
I had a poster for a red X-pack when I was young, my own car is the more modest RS2000 Custom, but currently been off the road for 13 years, so there is still hope for yours.

Thanks again. It would be nice to find out what happened to it. I had a poster for a red X-pack when I was young, my own car is the more modest RS2000 Custom, but currently been off the road for 13 years, so there is still hope for yours.

age 19-20 i very nearly bought an x pack, but the chassis id tag didnt look right and had been messed about with, it was at a dealers in sheffield, and i thought it would be ok. my dad persuaded me to keep looking, i then moved onto bikes and never got one!
2 or 3 yrs later the dealer was prosecuted (and sent down) for ringing cars if i remember, so i probably got off light. wish i had one now tho!

My first car was a black 79 RS2000 custmom....always wanted the X pack but all I got was the bonnet catches.
Learnt to drive and even took my test in it aged 17. That was back in 1980, a lucky boy for sure, especially since the professionals was all the rage
I know what happened to mine though.

That is such a great shame

Not showing up on Rallye Sport so far. One chap has 130 registrations and pics but it's not on any of those.
If I hear anymore I'll post back.
Appreciate all your help OldSkoolRS, getting the feeling it may turn out to be fruitless though. I would love to think the car is still in one piece in someone's garage but i am now beginning to doubt it. Still you never know, someone somewhere must know what happened to it.

No wonder it burst into flames.........parked in a layby at top of Wrotham Hill?..........Deb Ballard on the back seat?........thats enough to ignite a block of asbestos!
