This is the catch that holds the engine cover down on an AC 3000ME:





Made by Wilmot Breeden with their part number 722460 apparently. My car has lost it's catch at some point so I'm after another one, and was wondering if they were used on any other cars? Possibly something '70s and not necessarily British - the ME's interior lights are Mercedes units for example.

Anyone recognise it? Can't believe they were only used on the 100-odd MEs built!

It's not unlike the boot catch on an Alfa Giulia Coupe.

I'm afraid not. It was built in Hillington in part of the old Rolls Royce factory where I am now.

OP, your catch is amost certainly a MK1 Fiesta bonnet lock.. i am restoring one just now and it looks identical. The even better news is I have a spare!
