I've removed the brake & clutch master cylinders, along with the plastic remote resevoirs from my Maserati project today and it was, as always a joy to work on.

Both units have been weeping fluid at the plunger end and both are very 'tired' visually. The clutch worked fine before but the brakes haven't worked since I bought it last year due, I suspect to the master cylinder.

So..... The question is, can anybody recommend a company who can refurb the cylinders to an 'as new' condition including plating and replacing the seals etc. It's all nice conventional Girling stuff if that helps.

Cheers

Try J & L spares in Rochdale or give Paul Hunt a ring at Powertrack .

Thanks guys, very helpful.

These are the offending (or should that be offensive!) items. I'd like to look at getting these refurbished properly rather than just go down the easy replacement.

ill second pastparts in bury st edmunds, was in there today, very helpful.they will rebuild your m/c with a stainless liner so hopefully no more problems.they also do armstrong type dampers and can supply seal kits if you want to rebuild parts yourself.

If you feel up to it you could so it yourself.
I'm refurbing all the hydraulics on my MGB project.
Surprisingly simple and easy with the correct tools.

I looked at refurbishing them myself but the brake cylinder has a stepped cylinder and given the age of them, and the potential for corrosion in the bores, I've decided to send them on to Past Parts.

Spoke to them this morning, the price for a professional refurb isn't that much more than doing it myself, especially if you factor in the fudge-factor.... I put new seals in the brakes on my old MG Midget which worked nicely after but I'm in danger of pushing my luck on the Maserati ones, better to know ones limits smile

The clutch master cylinder looks like a standard 0.7" bore (written on the side) Integral Reservoir Girling one.
You can buy a new one from Merlin Motorsport http://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/p537/GIRLING-MASTER-CYLINDER-INTEGRAL-0.7/product_info.html?osCsid=5848dd502c57ad43ff3ad8adf04cd5fb
Or a cheaper Wilwood copy from RallyDesign http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=562_582_584&products_id=4052&osCsid=142n8rbvslts473h3kpfvfn7h3. Other motorsport retailers are available. These are very common on racing cars,

Eric

P.s, can't help much on the Brake one, measure the bores and you might find an equivalent.
