Putting a classic back on the road

Should be a simple question really...
I'm restoring an old triumph. When I acquired it last year I tried to declare it SORN. The DVLA wrote to me and told me that since it had been off the road since before the SORN rules came into force, that I didn't need to bother. They issued me with a new V5.
So, when I put it back on the road is it simply a case of insuring, MOTing and applying for a tax disc at the local post office, or are there any other hoops I need to jump through?
It's pre '73, so 'free' tax if that makes a difference.

Does the V5C already state "historic vehicle" in the taxation class?
If so then yes, it is just a trip to the post office (or online) to put it back on the road.
If however it still states PLG then you will have to go along to you local DVLA office with the paperworks and they will take the V5C off you, issue you with a tax disc and you will get the amended V5C back through the post.
