Shelsley walsh VSCC meeting photgraphs

Hi all,

I hope its ok to put these in here. I attended the Shelsley Walsh VSCC meeting today, I thought I would share a few of my favourite pictures that I took. There was certainly some amazing machinery there! Great to see these greta cars being driven. There was really a nice atmosphere at this meeting, my favourite car today would have to be the Napier Bentley! I found it good seeing the drivers expressions, really having to work at driving the cars!
These are not very edited, just a crop on them and brightness and contrast.

The Napier was a great car, on the bonnet it had 'The ultimate laxative' written there wich I found funny!

Chris Williams owns and drives the Napier, he is quite a character. You should see his other car - 'Mavis'.

We were there too, had a great day. Lovely weekend in fact, we stayed at a very nice B&B in Church Stretton and ambled over to Shelsley on Sunday morning. Had a lazy day 'cos we didn't do the trek up the hill, but the vintage machinery and their owners/keepers are just great to watch in the paddock!

Would like to know more about car #59, which as you rightly infer, is an incredible piece of kit. The commentary said it was the 1905 World Land Speed record holder at 121.odd mph. It has 25 and-a-half litres too, apparently. I had a quick wikipedia last night to find more info about the car but didn't come up with much, anyone here know any more about it?

Didn't get to Shelsley but have seen the Darracq at Mallory before. Pretty impressive for a car over 100 years old and slow it isn't. Not sure I'd have the guts to drive it at the speeds it does but it is fantastic to watch.

Looks of info on the net about it. Believe it's still owned by Mark Walker if it helps the googling.

Ahhh, a proper R-type Continental (I think). My favourite ever. I wonder if that's the one that used to belong to the late John Donner? He was a character...

Irish, do you know if anyone got any pictures/footage of Pete Cox's crash in his V8 Chevron at the end of the day? Heard he went off somewhere near the top apparently..

I was there on the Saturday too, Sitting having a drink near the end and heard about the Chevron, big shame as it was a lovely car, On the Sunday my dad was talking to a driver in the paddock, He had heard that the Chevron was in trouble coming out of the esses, I think he went off the track and took some of the fencing from the main straight.

The Caterham was a bit of a shock, I was standing right near the members tent when it happened, I was very relieved when he walked out! Driver got a round of applause when he emerged.

Very good photos in that link in your post of the Caterham, I was wondering if anyone had captured that. I was holding the camera at the time but it all happened very fast, took a while to sink in.
Certainly shows how strong these rol bars are, the car seemed to hold up well too.
