Wanted

Hi guys, does anyone happen to have one on a shelf, that they don't use, that they would be happy to sell to me? I've got a 700cfm holley at the moment and its too big! Trying to get the Maverick together in time for Blackford in two weeks.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Silly question but have you played around with a smaller needle?

I cannot see a 700cfm Holley being too big for the spec (as Elliot told it to me) of your motor Caroline, its just needing set up properly. Read this article by Lars Grimsrad, he was Gm's instructor for technicians on Carbs and ignition. http://www.corvetteclub.org.uk/kb.php?mode=article...

By the way my 350 motor runs a 750 with no problems.

Cheers

As above, provided your 700 carb has vacuum secondaries it should be fine, IF corrrectly jetted.

If your carburettor is in good condition, has standard Holley jetting for a similar vehicle, and you're not running a big cam, you might get away with "adjustments". If your carb really requires "tuning", then IMHO you're wasting your time without a wideband O2 gauge, and even with this if you have to get into changing the air bleeds its a pig!

One useful tip is to tune the primaries first with the secondaries disconnected and wired closed, then you're not compensating for one with the other. Also make sure the throttle blades are centred before you start.

Some good information here: http://www.bob2000.com/carb.htm
