944 S2 Cab

Not sure if it can be classed as a classic but does anyone have any advice about buying one?

What do I need to look out for?

I've just bought a very early 944 Lux (82).

Get yourself onto the TIPEC forum, loads to go on there.

In a nutshell;

Rust - sills particularly, door bottoms, frame.

Engine mounts, front suspension.

Check for madly whining gearbox. It is a rear mounted transaxle with LSD, they all whine a bit but be aware.

Great cars, fill your boots.

The Hartech guide is excellent and rightly stresses the importance of cam belt changes and the risk of damage to the sprocket teeth. Have been there and it was painful!
