That was my Uncle Pete's car at least couple of owners back, he was a serving police officer back in the day when the car was active. A good mate of his was a regular driver of the vehicle, when decommisioned it went out to the trade and my uncle managed to buy it a bit later on.
When he got the car it still had it's original interior, the cops that drove it then used to write the index numbers of suspect vehicles on the dash and trim as details came over the radio, no messing about with bits of paper! The original interior was from memory dark red.
The car came to my uncle fitted with oversize TR rims that had stress cracked all the wheel arches through impact, Pete and his brother Brian spent ages repairing that. The holes for the police equipment were all present, including a neatly trimmed hole in the front grill for the bell. A standard speedo was fitted, the oversize Police calibration speedo has been added by the new owner.
I recognised the car at a show and met the current owner a couple of years back, I passed on this info to him, and also put my uncle in contact. Pete always said that this was the one that got away, and he wished he had kept.

The picture of the car on duty in its day shows it with substantial steel wheels - I would have thought that pretty chrome wires would have been useless in high-speed cornering chases. Make the car look nice for shows, though.

This world is getting smaller!! I see your business is in East Sheen. The Library is still there !! about 200 metres from where I am now sitting..
