Name this Jaguar

I'd been looking at some photos from PH member AMD87 from Knockhill's BTCC meeting and one was of former BTCC champion John Cleland and what looked like a Jaguar D-Type. I've put the registration number into the DVLA and it comes out as a 3.8l Jaguar from 1963, but what is it? Is it a replica with Jag running gear? It can't be a D-Type at that time can it? I'm just really curious as to what it is, must have been a fun drive from Galashiels to Knockhill in that!

'63 is too early for XJ6 (unless some number plate shuffling has happened), I'd have thought it unlikley someone would use an e type as a donor, so more likely Mk11 or S type.

Could just be the angle of view, but the seemingly horizontal top to the fin points to it being a Realm (the rear fin is one of Lowdrags issues with this particular kit). If so, it will have IRS, and so be most likely to be based on an S type donor. Mk11 was solid axle, and an E type sump won't fit the Realm chassis. The kit is, however, designed to use circa Series 2 XJ6 front suspension, so the final product is likely to be a "mix and match" from various donor types. If the engine & IRS are from the same '63 car, it can still be issued an age-related plate.

I'd say probably Realm too, but one can never be really sure unless one examines it carefully. It's sitting on 15" wheels too, not 16".
