Replacement engine required.

Our pal runs a vintage Morris LC5 van which they have converted and use for the sale of their hand made cream ices at shows/events. The engine has just exploded rendering it beyond repair. They are seeking a replacement to fit the van. Apparently its a 2.2lt petrol engine required from a Austin A70 or Gypsy would fit straight in. Leads, comments and advise sought. Thank you.

What about the Austin Counties club and the Gypsy club if such a thing exists - I'd expect you'd have tried them first?
The block I think has similarities (but not that same as) the FX4 diesel and A-Healey 100, not exactly sure how you could make use of that but there will be more of those engines about and more spares/specialists, you could try one of the AH specialists, Denis Welch, John Chatham for instance who might know what parts are common and be able to work out a solution.
(Chatham built a 2.6-ish litre, petrol 100 engine using a taxi block so has experience of mix and match).
Or, going away from the original, Rover P6 2000 engines are cheap and common, would it be possible to do a swop, or Sherpa B or O Series?
