Can any of you chaps recommend a company that overhauls classic dynamo`s?? and if they are near Berkshire even better. The sort I have in mind would be small, old school, two man business that loves classic cars and would turn my discharging 1964 dynamo into a new unit.

You could probably have a bash at it yourself.

Use a multi meter to check continuity of the windings, replace the brushes, clean all the crap our of the gaps in the brush contact and check for wear in the bushes.

This is 2012.
Fit either an alternator or one of those alternators that look like a dynamo. Dynamos are the motoring equilavent of a black and white telly...

Ho Ho, very funny!

Do I have to explain?

OK, who has a black and white telly in their living room. Working. Connected to Sky?
You may be able to watch some programmes on such a TV, but not much fun. A flat battery on your car with dim headlights etc ain't much fun.
Fit an alternator, have brighter lights to see your way clear when leaving the Flat Earth Society meeting....
