Surely the gearbox conversion was £1200 not £12,000? It'll only be a type 9 and a custom bell housing.

Yes, Type9 gearbox conversion @ £1200. Ivor Searle engine £1900. If correct suspension and brake upgrades + gearbox + new engine, £5500 seems an okay price and will save the purchaser a good amount of time and therefore money.

OP, where's the link for the car so we can see what condition the B' is in?

Though...did B's come in Brooklands Green in 1970? No. Maybe we worth checking car a little closer i.e. chassis numbers to documentation.
