I would like:

Soft top
4 seats
large V8
Interesting

SWMBO would like:

Auto
'easy' to drive
Preferably RHD

What do you reckon?

I don't want a garage queen, I want to drive it regularly and can live without some of the desirables above. The only non compromise is four seats as a minimum.

About 10 years too new.

I want something old and interesting.

Bit hard pushed to find anything for £2500 matching that criteria. A Yank search only threw up (literally) some right ropey, nasty old early 90s Mustangs. frown

Cheap Stags do exist, but not sure if it's something I'd want on the cheap.

Very tough ask at £2500 for an older car in any sort of driveable condition.

This would be my choice though or at least one of these, dunno about the bodykit but great value and LPG too so use it every day!

If a sunroof and pillarless sides would do instead of a soft top then I have a 1988 Mercedes 560SEC that I really should sell! Classic soft tops with big V8s for <£2500 is a tricky one, everything that springs to mind is rather out of budget.

If you can live without the V8 part then what about a classic shape Saab 900 Turbo Convertible?.

Failing that a Merc SL500 http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2012...

A cheaper SL300 http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2012...

Or a Jag XJS (Ideal if your passengers are dwarfs) http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2011...

E34 BMW 540IA Touring with the huge double sun roof fits the bill perfectly and with change to detail it so it would be perfect, And I ust might be getting rid of mine if I can ever find a people carrier that isnt a complete mess for the same budget !

About the only thing that ticks most boxes would probably be an early shape CLK 320 Convertible, but its only got 6 pots.

Not a v8 but a BMW e30 325i convertable could be bought for that sort of wedge. Classic shape, 4 seats, soft top, sound good, cheapish to run, easy to fix and loads to choose from.
