shame to see one of my lottery cars on a site like this, but hopefully it gets a good new home, did someone on here not see the aftermath of this somewhere?

There are some around with more modern Dodge and Chrysler engines, and four or five speed autoboxes, which claim figures in the 20s. An original car will do not much more than about 16 mpg on a run, and often below single figures in town, so petrol is an issue, but an Interceptor is such fun that I put up with this.

Our next door neighbour drove an Interceptor for a while, in the early '70s. How I wanted that car. MPG puts me off now though. Could they be re-engined with an LS-series I wonder?
I had a 454 BB Chevy 'stroked' out to 489 cu in (8 ltr) and aftermarket ally heads in my Vette. The engine was built-up for me by John Sleath. At that time the only engine John had dyno'd that developed more torque than my engine (565 ft lbs 528 bhp) was a stroker 440 cu in Mopar (496 cu in) destined I think for a Jensen - this had something like 580 ft lbs of torque and 545 bhp. Mine is fractionally better on mileage than the old 427 cu in (at 14/15 mpg cruise) - take the plunge and add good fuel injection and an easy 18, possibly 20 mpg or more is perfectly feasible IF you choose a sensible cam and smaller port high velocity heads and possibly a 'lock-up' od auto box - remember torque is your friend! Wow! Had a wee look round that Copart site, the Jensen is listed under "Classics", i tried clicking "Classics" and was amazed at the 3rd on the list!!!!

I'm not sure they understand the concept of 'classic'

Never heard of this before. Care to elaborate? My memory was incorrect as to the engine sources. The S uses a modern GM engine:-

John built a couple of bored and stroked engines for Jensens, think my old man's was the first he did. By the time it'd had EFI fitted it was something like 585lb/ft and 485bhp on his engine dyno. Makes less in the car as it's still on the atrocious stock headers, so I've taken a lot of ignition timing out the map to stop it detting. He gets 18mpg quite regularly from it, though I've managed worse on the few occasions I've driven it.
