Deluxe Barndoor T2 buses are the holy grail. Rightly so. They have impeccable class. I think a show condition machine can be around £100k.
As they're so rare enthusiasts have moved the goal posts as to what can be saved. In my opinion this wreck is way beyond skip fodder. It's a buckled rotten heap of utter junk. But it will live again with dedication and love of the purest of A/C VW's. These mega early 1200's are right off the radar but have a huge following.
Lord knows where he picked up all that NOS metal. Good luck to him!
So when your S3 XJ6 needs a sill and an exhaust for its MOT and you're thinking of running it in, think of this dude.

Yep several around the world being rescued from similar states.

Restore that ???? Yeah right!
This might go some way to explain why so many are getting stolen at the moment. I'm not suggesting this guy is going to produce a ringer but there are some very dodgy people about and some even dodgier busses around too. Nobody expects a fifty year old VW splitty to be original in every way (Mann v Brewer
) and this creates an easy marketplace for the unscrupulous.
To anybody that's buying..... CAVEAT EMPTOR.

*- They might have switched vehciles somewhere during the restoration, but no matter. They're gonna make a MINT franks to RM auctions and his over-valuations

It's a very early bus which is why they'll restore it. There was one that got dragged from the bottom of a lake in Sweden/Norway that's being restored at the moment. They're worth big money.
