I have found these lurking in the back of the shed but have no clue as to what they came from

I have 2 of these

and one of these

I have been told that they may also have been fitted to some aircraft and one may also be for a Rolls Silver Ghost

Can anyone of the informed PHers add anything or shed any light?

Did you not post these pictures elsewhere on PH?

I'm sure I can remember seeing them before and someone saying what they were...

I did post them earlier but I was hoping that the collective knowledge (geekery) of PH might be able to shed more light as to their source or application.

I have found one website that lists one of them for a RR or Bentley and another website with a PDF that talks about Simms Mags being for aviation use.

I seriously doubt they came from aviation and no one in the family ever owned a RR or Bentley so I suspect they also have a more mundane application.

Bonhams, the Auctioneers, have sold an SRM6, for £45. http://www.bonhams.com/auctions/16255/lot/244/
Others expect to sell for more

These do sem to have been fitted to aircraft:

But this eBay US seller did sell one that they described as being for an RR Silver Ghost:

This UK seller thinks has is from a tractor or lorry.

Simms was taken over by Lucas in 1968, but no idea who might have records. Gaydon - BMIHT?
